Fiesta Lakers 2009

I have been waiting for the information on this great event. This event is sponsored and aimed at the Latino/a community that supports the Lakers here in LA. I was fortunate enough to go last year and man there was soooooo many people. I went with my best friend Kevin (who is a big Laker fan) and our other friend David. Since it was your first time going to this event we didn't know what to expect. It started at 12pm so we got there at 1230, and to our surprise it was packed. The even is in the convention center and the line went all the way around to Staples Center. We walked into line and stayed there till we got in, which was 2 hours from when we got there. But it was worth it.

Unfortunately we didn't win wrist bands to meet one of the Lakers at an autograph booth, but we seen them on stage and got Laker girl autographs (my two friends obviously were excited about that). Seeing Gasol, Kobe and Sasha was so cool, up on stage and everyone in that room screaming MVP MVP to Kobe as he walked up to speak in both English and Spanish. Every Laker that spoke made sure they said something in Spanish to please the crowd. After that it was time for them to go to their booths for autographs. I went straight to Sasha so I can get close enough to take pictures of him and yes I got some good ones.

We plan to go again now that the info is out, but this time we know to go way earlier for a chance to win wrist bands to meet our favorite Laker!!!!

WBC at Dodger Stadium

I was at the my second home today to get tickets for Manny's bobble head (good thing bc they are almost sold out) and Blanket night. With the bobble head on my mind I totally forgot about the WBC starts today at the stadium ( I know I'm dumb) anyway the ticket office was packed with many Koreans waiting to get tixs for tonight's game.. I was very impressed so I then went into the store and bought myself a cool USA shirt! then I walked to see the wonderful field and took some pictures!

I can't wait to be there for Dodger games!!!!

Letter for me!

Ok so i just received yesterday this letter... Now I had wrote in a previous blog that I was wondering about where I will be next fall for school, and last week I had applied to CSULA just in case the other schools I want to go to don't accept me. Well I come home yesterday from work and receive a letter from CSULA that I have been accepted by them.. Now that my backup planned worked, I want to know why can't the other school be that fast on letting me know. Well I'm still waiting for the last three schools to let me know. If not it will be CSULA for my BA and somewhere else for my Masters!

James article in LA times!!

Awww James, well after his first full year in the big leagues the Dodger first baseman is ready to play and most importantly improve from last year and years past.
The article in the LA TIMES today talks about him wanting to improve for his team, not necessarily for himself.
"Situations dictate how good your season is going to be," Loney said. "You can hit .400, but if you're not hitting good with guys on base, what's the point?
I love his work ethics on the field. He is such a great player and why I was immediately drawn to him as a player and became my favorite since the days of Mike Piazza.
I now he only will become a better player, as he has continued to improve his game as much as he can ever since he was young.

Seriously people around me are flakes, they can't commit to anything that is going on or that is going to happen, and no I'm not having guy issues here because of the commitment part.

Actually my guy friends are the ones that are being cool, they might have their busy lives, but hey when they aren't, they are willing to help and hang out for a few drinks or chill time.

What I'm talking about those that are around that just seem down for anything, then like flakes crack and get soggy on you when the time comes to go. I have had this issue quit recently with people that say they want to go out and do something, now with my busy schedule of school (school-work) and my job, I'm always down to get out for a little while and get away from all the hectic things in my life. Like anyone that wants to have fun I do too!!...

Unfortunately I have those around us that end up making excuses last minute and spoil my plans for the night.. That gets me so frustrated =(... Any giving night I like to stay home when there are games on TV..OMG I love that, of course going to a sports bar is always cool because I can see the game with fellow fans, but it sucks when there is no

This takes me to the part of meeting new people and making my surroundings different then what they are now. I love the people around me, but like anyone that likes to be out and meet new people I now it is time to do that. Not only just to hangout with some new peeps, but also getting to know people in the industry I am pursing for a career.

I just dont need the flakes to get me down and soggy in their bowl of milk!

Ranting before school

Not my tipicle blog post, but I had to get this outI'm sitting here at work with absolutely nothing to do. I'm think about what will come in the future for me as I have already surpassed my CC expectation. I got my behind together and have worked hard to get where I am today, but failure to go to a UC this fall because of budget cuts is terrifying me. I don't want to get behind in my education, yes I can take more courses at other CC since I have pretty much taken everything I'm interested in or needed to take at my current CC, I want to get done with my BA so that I may pursue my career goals.
Finally after three years of not knowing what I wanted to do I have been linked back to my love for sports and my continue desire to work with such a great field. I will be looking for internship soon as well as getting more experience in anything that has to do with media in the sports world, local newspaper, Internet, and magazine. I have been fortunate to have already been writing sports for the campus news at school and been the sports editor to go on my resume.
I just need that boost of knowing that I will not fall behind on the work I have already accomplished in the career plan I'm choosing. That I will not be sitting here at a desk not doing anything, but write on my blog!
Now I must go for a drive back to school for my late night class.. to be continued...

part of the YOUTH movement

James Loney.... Great first baseman and hopefully future Gold Glove for the MLB one day!!! With the youth of Andre, Russ, Matt, Chad and Brox the Dodgers have a strong core of young talent. The fact that they have experienced a playoff run on 06 and now in 08 these young guys have a chance this season to take it to the next level. With Loney on their side there is a sure bet he will play for the Dodgers on the three position for a very long time!

GOOD LUCK this season James.. I'll be rooting you on for a very long time.

Phelps calls incident 'bad mistake'

Now this whole scadel of him and the picture that ruined his reputation at least for while.. It sucks that now he will be rembered for that photo with the bong other then the one with all his medals

Article on

Associated Press

NEW YORK -- Michael Phelps insists he's more worried about the pain he caused family, friends and fans than losing money in endorsements after he was photographed appearing to inhale from a marijuana pipe.
In excerpts from an interview with NBC's Matt Lauer that aired Friday morning, the swimming star didn't directly answer the question of whether he was smoking marijuana.
According to excerpts released by the network Thursday, Phelps replied: "It was a bad mistake. I mean, we all know what, you know, what you and I are talking about. It's a stupid mistake. You know, bad judgment. And it's something that, you know, I have to, and I want to teach other people not to make that mistake."
USA Swimming suspended the Olympic great for three months after the photo was published in a British tabloid Feb. 1. He also lost his sponsorship from Kellogg.
"I've come to realize that people want to bring you up, but more people want to bring you down," Phelps said. "And that's how our public is. That's definitely something to keep in mind and keep close to heart."
Phelps has previously apologized for his poor judgment.
He was questioned about promises he made to fans after a DUI arrest in 2004, which the swimmer vowed was a mistake he would not repeat.
"I'll be the first one to admit I've made a lot of mistakes in my life. Both, like I said, in the pool and out of the pool. I've never made the same mistake twice," he said.
When asked if he considered his DUI arrest and the marijuana controversy the same thing, Phelps replied: "In my eyes, no. I think they're both immature and stupid mistakes. For me, I feel my duty is to try to help other people not make this mistake."
The photo was taken at a house party while Phelps was visiting Columbia, S.C., in November during an extended break from training after he won a record eight gold medals in Beijing.
"There was probably two or three people there I didn't know," he said. "It was a very small group. Six or seven people probably total in the whole house. Like nothing major. You know, not like a giant college house party. It was nothing like that. It was just a small group and we were just sitting around and celebrating."
Phelps said he trusted his friends that the people he didn't know there could also be trusted.
"I'll say that there are a lot of people out there who want to take advantage of any situation they have. ... Sometimes you learn the hard way," he said.
Phelps said he became aware of the photo a day or two before it was published.
"It's not about money to me," he said of the fallout. "So, you know, the contract side of things, yeah, I was disappointed. But, you know, I think the biggest thing is who I hurt the most. Like, if I lost money, OK. It's not an issue with me."
Asked what his mother's reaction was, he said: "Didn't scream. Clearly showed she was upset. She wasn't reprimanding me."
Phelps also addressed the issue of young boys and girls who look up to him that may have been crushed by the photo.
"I want to say that if you do make a bad judgement or you do make a mistake, make sure you're responsible for it," he said. "Because that's how you're going to change and that's how you're going to learn."
The remainder of the interview will air Sunday night on "Dateline."

Sasha and his head bands!

Sasha has been taking headbands from fans that are sent to him from his new website .... this was a new one that he doesn't expect to wear during games, but a fan took the time to send it to him, so he wore it at a dinner for the contributors to his new site. He has been getting a lot of headbands and he has been trying them out during games. He still is trying to look for the perfect headband to wear during the games to hold his long hair so he doesn't have to worry about his hair and concentrate on the game!!

I love this guy his is so nice and what he is doing to make his appreciation to fans known is awesome!!!...

Martin staying away from dipping!

Russell Martin said this winter he stopped chewing tobacco and wants to continue to do so this season. He has now gotten a mouth piece so that it can relax his jaw and prevent him from dipping.

I like the sound of that, I didn't like when I seen that dip in his month YUCK.. Kemp needs to do the same thing especially them two, who have gorgeous smiles!!!

Can you say OUCH!!!!

KIngs Matt Greene took a puck to the face at Mondays night game. The last few minutes of the game he was laying on the ice ready to block a shot from a Canuck player and then he got hit right in the forehead OUCH!!
Lamor Odem is annoyed by the suspension that was giving to him Monday night after the hit on Trailblazers Fernandez. Odem was on the bench when the incident occurred and he step out onto the confutation going on on the court.
He says
"I was no further than when I cheer. I guess I'm on the court when I cheer as well, so I've got to watch that. I might get suspended for that."

awww we will miss him on the court today and

Manny working hard

The fact that Manny has come late to spring training has made him realize he has to catch up on his work outs.

It is nice to see him dedicated to working hard and getting ready for the season.
FYI.. Jones article in La times today.. How he regrets not being better for the Dodgers
"I am sorry I didn't stand up to my reputation," he says. "I am sorry for what I put everyone through. I am sorry I did not make it work."

Source: Manny, Dodgers near deal

By Enrique RojasESPNdeportes.comArchive
ORLANDO, Florida -- Manny Ramirez and the Los Angeles Dodgers finally reached some common ground in their negotiations, according to a source close to the talks.
After multiple failed attempts, Ramirez and the Dodgers agreed to general terms Tuesday on a two-year, $45 million deal. A source told that obstacles still remain to completing the contract.
Agent Scott Boras didn't immediately return a phone call seeking comment.
The Dodgers announced last week that Boras had declined the team's fourth offer to the star outfielder -- a one-year, $25 million contract with a $20 million player option for 2010.
The outfielder is expected to travel to Los Angeles on Tuesday night. Ramirez would then report to the Dodgers' spring training camp in Arizona.
Enrique Rojas is a reporter for Information from's Jerry Crasnick contributed to this report.

Just in Manny signs!!!!!!

Ok so the Local news and ESPN are reporting that Manny has signed back with the Dodgers... waiting on confirmation from the Dodgers to make official announcement!!!
